When Verne (Garry Shandling) and his fellow woodland friends emerge from their winter hibernation, they discover that they have some new neighbors: humans. Amongst these new arrivals is RJ (Bruce Willis), an opportunistic raccoon who teaches the others how to take advantage of the suburban abundance before them.

RJ, the wily raccoon, is quick to seize the opportunity presented by the human presence in the woodland. He demonstrates to Verne and the other animals how they can exploit the plentiful resources now available to them in the suburban setting. The woodland creatures, once content with their natural habitat, now find themselves presented with a veritable bounty courtesy of their new human neighbors.

Verne, the cautious turtle, and his animal companions are initially wary of this sudden change to their environment. They are unsure of how to navigate the unfamiliar suburban landscape and the presence of the humans who now occupy it. However, RJ, with his cunning and adaptability, is able to show them how to thrive in this new setting.

Through RJ's guidance, the woodland animals learn to scavenge for food in the human's trash cans, raid their gardens, and even infiltrate their homes in search of sustenance. What was once a peaceful coexistence between the animals and their natural surroundings has now been disrupted by the arrival of the humans and the opportunistic RJ.

As the story unfolds, the audience witnesses the tension that arises between the woodland creatures and their new human neighbors. The animals, once content to live within the confines of their natural habitat, now find themselves in a constant struggle to adapt to the suburban environment. RJ, the driving force behind this upheaval, is able to manipulate the other animals, leading them down a path of increasing conflict with the humans.

The film explores the delicate balance between the natural world and the encroaching human presence, and the consequences that can arise when that balance is disrupted. Verne and his friends are forced to confront the challenges of this new reality, all the while grappling with the moral dilemmas presented by RJ's opportunistic behavior.

Through the interactions between the woodland creatures and the humans, the film touches upon themes of adaptation, survival, and the impact of human development on the natural world. The audience is left to ponder the complex relationships that can emerge when the boundaries between the natural and the man-made become blurred.
